PDF to Image Converter – PDF to PNG & JPG Online

Convert PDF pages to PNG, JPG or WebP images in your browser. Choose the pages and resolution (72–300 DPI), then download one image or a ZIP of every page. Nothing is uploaded.

Up to 200.0 MB. The file stays on your device.

Pages are rendered with PDF.js in your browser and saved through Canvas. Text becomes pixels, so the images are not searchable or selectable. Nothing is uploaded.

How this PDF to image converter turns pages into PNG or JPG

A PDF to image converter is the quickest way to put one page of a document where a PDF will not go: a slide in a chat message, a scanned form in an upload field that accepts only JPG, a page of a report in a blog post, or a thumbnail for a document library. This tool opens the PDF with PDF.js — the same rendering engine Firefox uses for its built-in PDF viewer — draws each page you pick onto a canvas, and saves that canvas as PNG, JPG or WebP.

Everything happens in your browser. The PDF.js worker, fonts, character maps and image decoders are served from this site, so the PDF is read from your disk into memory and never sent to a server. That matters for the documents people most often convert: contracts, invoices, bank statements and ID scans. You can disconnect from the network after the page has loaded and the conversion still works.

Resolution is set in DPI, because a PDF page is measured in points (1/72 inch), not pixels. 72 DPI gives one pixel per point — an A4 page becomes 595×841 pixels. 150 DPI (the default) gives 1240×1753 for A4, sharp on any screen. 300 DPI gives 2480×3507, the usual print resolution. Higher DPI makes larger files and takes longer, so pick the lowest setting that looks right where the image will be used.

PNG keeps text and line art perfectly crisp and is the right choice for slides, forms and diagrams. JPG is far smaller for pages that are mostly photographs or scans, at the cost of slight blur around text. WebP sits in between and is good for websites. Converting a page to an image turns its text into pixels: the result is not searchable or selectable, and links and form fields stop working. Keep the PDF as the original.

Select pages with a range such as 1-3, 5, 8- (8 to the end). A single page downloads straight away; several pages download as one ZIP with numbered files such as report-page-01.png, in page order. Password-protected PDFs open once you type the password, which is checked locally. Very large pages, such as posters or A3 drawings at 300 DPI, are scaled down to fit the roughly 16-megapixel limit browsers put on a canvas, and the tool tells you when that happens.

What happens when you convert a PDF page

PDF.js parses the file, lays out each page you select from its fonts, vector drawing commands and embedded images, and paints the result onto a canvas at the resolution you chose. The canvas is then encoded as PNG, JPG or WebP. Pages are rendered one at a time on a white background, so pages with no background of their own do not come out transparent.

Pixel sizes at each resolution

A PDF page is measured in points, 72 to the inch, so the output size is the page size multiplied by DPI ÷ 72. These are the sizes this tool produces for the two most common paper sizes:

  • A4 (210×297 mm): 595×841 at 72 DPI, 793×1122 at 96, 1240×1753 at 150, 1653×2338 at 200, 2480×3507 at 300.
  • US Letter (8.5×11 in): 612×792 at 72 DPI, 816×1056 at 96, 1275×1650 at 150, 1700×2200 at 200, 2550×3300 at 300.
  • A3 at 300 DPI would exceed the browser canvas limit, so it is rendered at 3444×4870 — about 295 DPI.

Choosing a format

  • PNG: lossless. Best for text, spreadsheets, slides, diagrams and forms. Larger files for photo-heavy pages.
  • JPG: lossy and much smaller for scans and photos. Text gets faint ringing around the letters, more visible at low quality.
  • WebP: usually smaller than JPG at the same quality. Fine for websites; some older upload forms still reject it.

Common uses

  • Uploading a scanned form or certificate to a portal that accepts only JPG or PNG.
  • Posting a slide or one page of a report to social media or a chat app.
  • Making a cover thumbnail for a document library, shop listing or blog post.
  • Pasting a page into a design tool or slide deck that cannot import PDF.

Limits to know about

The image is a picture of the page: text cannot be searched or copied and hyperlinks are lost. Interactive form fields are drawn as they currently appear. Very large pages are scaled to fit about 16.7 million pixels per canvas. Every converted image is kept in memory until the ZIP is built, so a few hundred pages at 300 DPI can need several hundred megabytes — convert long files in batches with the page range, especially on a phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a PDF to an image?

Drop the PDF on this page, choose PNG, JPG or WebP and a resolution, then click Convert. One selected page downloads as a single image; several pages download as a ZIP with one numbered image per page.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is read and rendered in your browser with PDF.js, and the PDF.js files are served from this site rather than a third-party CDN. Nothing about the document leaves your device, which is why it is safe for contracts, statements and ID scans.

Which DPI should I choose?

150 DPI is a good default for screens, email and documents (an A4 page becomes 1240×1753 pixels). Use 300 DPI for printing (2480×3507 for A4). 72 or 96 DPI is enough for small previews and thumbnails and gives the smallest files.

Should I convert PDF to PNG or JPG?

PNG for pages with text, tables, charts or line art — edges stay crisp and nothing is lost. JPG for pages that are mostly photos or scans, where it is several times smaller. WebP is a good middle ground for websites.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Type a selection in the Pages box, such as 1-3, 5, 8- (page 8 to the end). Leave it empty for every page. Each thumbnail also has its own button to save just that page.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes, if you know the password. The tool asks for it and checks it locally. It cannot remove or bypass a password you do not have.

Will the text in the image be searchable?

No. Converting a page to an image turns text into pixels, so it cannot be searched, selected or copied, and links stop working. Keep the original PDF if you need those.

Why was my page scaled down?

Browsers limit a single canvas to about 16.7 million pixels. A3 at 300 DPI would be 3507×4960, so it is rendered at 3444×4870 instead (about 295 DPI). The tool shows a notice whenever this happens.

Is there a page or file size limit?

Files up to 200 MB open. Pages are rendered one at a time, so long documents work, but every image is held in memory until the ZIP is built — on a phone, convert a few hundred high-DPI pages in batches.
